Pole Pockets Explained
Pole pockets are a popular finish for large, custom-sized flags. They slide over poles or scaffolding for a clean, secure install, ideal for building wraps, stage branding, and oversized displays.
At Sunbaba, pockets are included within your final artwork size, not added on top. This ensures your finished flag matches the size you need.
We recommend keeping key elements like logos and text clear of pocket areas, background imagery is fine, but avoid placing anything important too close to the edge.
As always, we’re happy to review your artwork and run thorough pre-print checks to ensure everything lines up as it should.
Common Pocket Allowances
Here’s a quick guide to typical pocket sizes based on pole diameter:
Pole Diameter | Pocket Allowance Area |
---|---|
25 mm | 92.5 mm |
30 mm | 105 mm |
35 mm | 117.5 mm |
40 mm | 130 mm |
45 mm | 142.5 mm |
50 mm | 155 mm |
55 mm | 167.5 mm |
60 mm (Scaffolding) | 180 mm |
65 mm | 192.5 mm |
70 mm | 205 mm |
If you’re using a different pole size, you can calculate the pocket allowance using this formula:
Pole Diameter × 2.5 + 30 mm
This accounts for weld space and a bit of wiggle room for easy installation.
B1 fire-retardant certificates available on request.
