Queen Elizabeth II Garden Launch, Regent’s Park
When the new Queen Elizabeth II Garden opened in The Regent’s Park, the project brought together landscape design, biodiversity and public realm improvements in one of London’s most visited green spaces.
Created on the site of a former Royal Parks nursery, the new two-acre garden transforms a previously closed-off operational area into a carefully designed public landscape celebrating the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II. The launch required the site perimeter to be presented thoughtfully while final preparations and operational infrastructure remained discreetly screened from visitors and media.
Sunbaba produced custom printed CiCLO® biodegradable mesh scrim for the project, installed around the perimeter to create a tidy and visually consistent boundary while maintaining airflow and practicality across the live site.
The artwork combined a foliage-based print with interspersed Royal Parks branding, helping the perimeter sit naturally within the surrounding landscape rather than feeling overtly temporary or construction-led. Used across long fencing runs, the mesh softened back-of-house infrastructure and visually tied operational areas into the wider garden environment.
For projects like this, printed mesh scrim is an effective way to manage presentation during launches and public openings, particularly in sensitive outdoor settings where appearance matters as much as practicality. In this case, the combination of environmentally conscious CiCLO® mesh and nature-led artwork complemented the wider ethos of the Queen Elizabeth II Garden itself.
The scrim was produced using CiCLO® additive mesh material, designed to help synthetic fibres biodegrade more readily if they enter landfill environments, offering a more environmentally conscious alternative to conventional PVC-based event branding materials. Combined with high-quality large format printing and robust finishing, the result was a durable installation suited to a high-profile civic setting.
As with many heritage and public realm projects, presentation mattered. The perimeter treatment needed to feel subtle, organised and well resolved within the surrounding landscape, rather than overtly commercial or temporary. Consistency across the fencing line helped frame the space professionally while allowing the garden itself to remain the focus.
Sunbaba regularly produces printed mesh scrim, fence covers and branded site screening for festivals, public events, construction projects, parks, live activations and cultural installations across the UK. From short-term launch dressing through to long-duration outdoor installations, we focus on practical solutions, reliable production and finishes that hold up properly on site.
