Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in our supply chain

In November last year, the world’s first flight powered entirely by Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) was successfully completed between Heathrow and New York in a pivotal moment for the air-transport industry. The EU recently set out its targets for the widespread adoption of SAF, with its use expected to account for 20% of all air-travel by 2035.

At Sunbaba, we’re excited to announce the integration of SAF into our quick-turnaround supply chains within the EU. This allows clients to choose a greener option for urgent shipments without sacrificing speed or efficiency.

Here’s what you need to know:

What is SAF?

SAF, Sustainable Aviation Fuel, is made from renewable sources like waste oils and agricultural residues. It’s cleaner than traditional aviation fuel, reducing emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional fuels.

How we’re using it:

SAF will be used for certain deliveries within the EU that require a quick turnaround. It’s for clients who need fast shipping but would like to reduce the environmental footprint of these deliveries. Incorporating SAF is a small but significant step towards greener logistics industry-wide.

Cost and service quality:

If your shipment is eligible for SAF, we’ll inform you about its availability and provide a cost comparison with traditional delivery options. Opting for SAF won’t affect the delivery speed or the reliability you’ve come to expect from our services. You’ll receive the same timely, dependable service.

Our broader approach:

For shipments with sufficient lead-times, we continue to advocate the use of road freight. Opting for road transport in these scenarios helps us further minimise the environmental impact of deliveries.

In short, by introducing SAF into our supply chain, we’re taking a proactive step in reducing our carbon emissions while still delivering the high-standard logistics services our clients rely on. If you would like to find out more, please get in touch at
